A resumé for visual learners.
(illustrated type)
The South
Born and raised In Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. My childhood was spent mostly outside catching snakes and exploring in the foot hills of the North Georgia mountains. Much of my work is inspired and fueled by rural Americana.
The Great Outdoors
I Graduated from NOLS, The National Outdoor Leadership School, in 2010. I have been an outdoor guide for the University Of Delaware for the past 4 years. This has given me a great deal of experience and confidence when it comes to being a leader. I feel most centered outdoors.
Road Trip
Through rain, sleet, snow and blinding fog I have driven over 80,000 miles over the past four years, mostly by myself. There is nothing like a long drive to clear your mind. Somewhere around 8 hours into a drive I start to feel truly inspired.
98 Days
I once lived in a tent for 98 days. Two months of that was in British Colombia where it rained day and night. Except for a minor case of trench foot, I happily survived. If I'm doing something I love it's always worth a little discomfort. At the top of every hill is a beautiful view and at the bottom of the valley is a stream.
Chainsaw
I can build a mean fire. I grew up chainsawing brush and shooting fireworks at fire pits. I may be just a little country at times.
Surfboards and Spoons
Whether it's carving spoons or shaping surfboards, I've always worked with my hands. There is some thing great about standing back and saying "I made that."
Analog
This is my random folder on my desktop, that's how analog I am. I can modify type in Illustrator just fine, but most of the time I'd rather just do it all by hand. There is a special feeling about a pencil in my hand, staring at a blank sheet of paper, that a computer can never compare to.
These Guys
I interned for these guys over the winter. Eric, Joey and Larry of Grand Army taught me so much. They helped me realize skills I didn't know I had. They are truly great guys and damn good at what they do. If you ever get the chance to work with them, jump on it.
Society Of Illustrators
One of my favorite things to do is illustrate. Whether it's type treatments or purely imagery, the world melts away when I pick up that pencil. My work was selected from over 8000 nation-wide entries to be one of the 200 illustrations displayed in the 2015 Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition.
Let's Put Our Heads Together
I will be moving to New York in June. If you're interested in working with me or just want to chat send me a email or call.
